QualityLogic Participates in the Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project

By Anamika Singh September 08, 2009
QualityLogic, provider of testing products and outsourced quality assurance and engineering services, has announced participation in a team of utilities, vendors and research groups that has submitted a five-year, $178 million proposal to the U.S. Department of Energy to build a smart electric grid demonstration system in the Pacific Northwest region.

The proposal is for economic stimulus grants the DoE has received, contending for government funds for new smart grid technologies.

The Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project partnership will be led by Battelle Memorial Institute, a non-profit research group and includes utilities in five Northwest states, and the Bonneville Power Administration.

QualityLogic partnered with the Drummond Group to be the vendors for interoperability testing and certification of Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration project technologies. QualityLogic will use its conformance and interoperability testing and certification methodologies in the PNW-SGDP project.

In a release, Dave Jollota, CEO and president of QualityLogic, said "QualityLogic has been helping solve complex interoperability problems for close to 25 years. We excel in analyzing intricate technical specifications and standards, and developing rigorous, real-world test solutions to help ensure interoperability between devices."

"We are excited to work with the Drummond Group as part of the Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project partnership and look forward to contributing to the success of this important project," Jollota added.

QualityLogic has helped companies deliver new technologies and implement standards including T30/T38 fax conformance and interoperability, conformance/interoperability testing solutions for all of the popular page description languages in the printing industry, and conformance and interoperability testing solutions for web technologies.

QualityLogic's customers include technology companies in a wide range of industries. Printer and MFP OEMs, ODMs and technology providers rely on QualityLogic test solutions to validate their products' performance, conformance to industry standards, and interoperability with other hardware and software products.

Network infrastructure equipment manufacturers, carriers, and telecom service providers use QualityLogic fax test equipment for interoperability with fax traffic from traditional devices and across the Internet. IT departments look to QualityLogic for their web applications or websites to meet their quality objectives, and marketing also rely on QualityLogic.
