BPL Global Releases the Latest Version of Connected Energy Smart Grid Solution Suite

By Rajani Baburajan September 19, 2011

BPL Global (BPLG), a smart grid technology company, announced the launch of Version 3.5 of its Connected Energy (CNRG) smart grid solution suite for advanced distribution automation of the electrical network.

Leveraging the new suite, utilities can ensure integrated management of smart grid solutions from substations through customer premises.

The new smart grid solutions suite is designed for cross collaboration of smart grid solutions that can automate decisions and responses in the grid to improve efficiency, company officials said.

“The Connected Energy smart grid solution suite enables utilities to plan and execute their long term smart grid roadmaps on a unified system architecture,” said Pete Londa, CEO of BPL Global, in a statement

“Utilities can sequence deployment of solutions to maximize their investments in smart grid technologies from substations through customer premises such as renewable energy, smart meters, load management, energy storage, asset monitoring and substation automation,” Londa added.

The CNRG solution includes software, communications, smart devices and managed services for a vertically integrated solution. BPLG achieves horizontal integration across solutions due the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) that enables applications to share critical data, services and a common user interface across the system.

The new approach enables BPLG’s new release to offer improved ROI for each of the smart grid solutions through robust infrastructure, shared information and integrated management.

Delivering the promise of the smart grid, BPLG users can benefit from features such as advanced metering, demand management, and/or substation automation that can be offered by independent deployment of specific smart grid solutions.

Recently, BPLG announced its partnership with Delta Dore, Edelia, Saft, Schneider Electric, Tenesol and Electricite de France (EDF) to deploy a 30.2 million euro smart grid project called Millener on the islands of Corsica, Guadeloupe and La Reunion. The project is expected to integrate management of a thousand diverse distributed energy resources at the edge of the distribution grid.
