Proximetry Secures European Union Grant

By Raju Shanbhag September 13, 2011

The Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PAED) has awarded a grant to Proximetry wherein PAED will make use of the next-generation smart grid version of Proximetry’s AirSync.

The AirSync system is built using industry best practices. Its four-tier system includes Visualization, Business Logic, Distributed Processing and Network Elements.

With the company's own matching funds to over US$5 million, the PAED grant brings Proximetry's total R&D investment in AirSync-based solutions from EU agencies like PAED, Eureka, FP7-Seventh Framework Program. With over 200 deployed customers worldwide, AirSync has already been chosen by several electric utilities in the U.S., Mexico, and Asia as their preferred network management system, the company stated in a press release.

“We are incredibly honored to be chosen by PAED, which administers European Union grants, and excited about the opportunity to further accelerate the transformation of the energy infrastructure in Europe and the rest of the world," said Proximetry CEO Tracy Trent. “This grant will increase our ability to deliver richer functionality from our five year roadmap to the energy market sooner. It is a true honor to be chosen by the European Union.”

AirSync is Proximetry's carrier-class software solution for today's increasingly complex wireless eco-systems, bringing greater predictability to mission-critical traffic while traversing today's "multi-multi" wireless networks. Proximetry is a proud member of Cisco Systems' connected energy eco-system. Offering the enterprise a choice of database platforms, the AirSync architecture also embraces open source software components.

Recently, the company announced that smart grid expert Andres Carvallo has joined its management team as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. Carvallo, who previously served as Chief Information Officer at Austin Energy where he was the chief architect of the first fully deployed smart grid in the United States, will utilize his expertise to advance Proximetry's wireless network management solution. He will also be responsible for product strategy for the public safety, telecommunications and transportation industries.
