Symphony Teleca, Itron Develop Energy and Water App for Microsoft CityNext Initiative

In a new collaboration, Symphony Teleca (News - Alert) Corporation and Itron Inc. have designed and developed a Windows 8 and Windows RT mobile and desktop application prototype that will give cities a clear and perceptive view of their energy and water consumption.

Symphony Teleca is an innovation and development services company. It announced the new collaboration today. Itron, Inc is a technology company that aids utilities in measuring, managing and analyzing its energy and water usage. The new collaborations touch-optimized application can be used across devices from Windows Surface tablets to mobile phones and desktops.

As urban populations continue to climb finances in aging infrastructures are dwindling causing them to seek energy efficient solutions. Itron is smart meters provider and has tapped into Symphony Teleca Corporation’s expertise in energy as well as its design capabilities to create this new prototype.

Cities receive charts, graphs and maps that show an integrated view of the city’s electricity, gas and water consumption from Itron Insights. It also reveals a city’s CO2 footprint and associated costs. Drill-down capabilities for further analysis are also offered by the one-stop solution. The drill-down process aids cities in figuring out the most efficient way to allocate resources.
