Space-Time Insight, a provider of situational intelligence solutions, has announced that the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD (News - Alert)) has implemented Space-Time Insight's geospatial and visual analytics software.

This new software facilitates faster and more informed smart grid decisions. The new system correlates, analyzes and visualizes data in smart grid, distribution, outage, fire and weather systems. It is also the core of SMUD’s new Distribution Operations Center.

This new solution was implemented as a part of SMUD's ‘Situational Awareness and Visual Intelligence (SAVI) initiative.’ This initiative is designed to improve the speed and quality of data analysis and decision-making.

The Space-Time Insight system synthesizes numerous streams of disparate data quickly. It also provides assessments of grid and asset health, weather, wind and fire conditions. The system aids both managers and operators in responding faster to outages and in making more informed decisions about investments and maintenance.
