Alarm.com Acquires EnergyHub

Alarm.com (News - Alert) is making noise, but it’s not an alarm – it’s celebration of its latest acquisition. The company has recently acquired EnergyHub, which will help Alarm.com continue to address the energy and environmental challenges it faces with the acquired company’s energy management platform.

EnergyHub will continue operating as an independent company, further focusing on providing a secure and scalable energy management platform. With this acquisition, however, it will be able to extend its services and connect its utility partners to Alarm.com’s Dealer Partners and subscribers.

Alarm.com is a technology provider of connected home solutions, with over a million subscribers. Its services include interactive security, video monitoring, home automation, and with the acquisition of EnergyHub, improved energy management. EnergyHub is the developer of Mercury, a comprehensive software platform for rapid deployment of demand response and energy efficient programs, helping combine customer applications and program management services.

“We believe that EnergyHub’s Mercury platform provides the best available solution for powering comprehensive residential demand response and energy efficiency programs,” says Steve Trundle (News - Alert), CEO of Alarm.com. “We are pleased to directly support EnergyHub in its mission to deliver innovative solutions to today’s energy and environmental challenges. By working with EnergyHub, we can help make the Mercury platform even more valuable to its partners and customers, while also extending the smart grid to today’s intelligent connected home.”

Alarm.com and EnergyHub are both benefiting nicely from this acquisition, whether they’re obtaining new energy management platforms or a wider customer-base. There’s no reason to worry about EnergyHub losing any traction or changing its direction, as the companies are aligned in their goals, so their partners and customers will all benefit.
