South Campus Development for OATI Starts

Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) recently announced that it had completed the acquisition of two contiguous parcels in Bloomington. This will be the new location for the OATI South Campus and also for a new office complex and data center.

In a release, Dr. Sasan Mokhtari, president and CEO of OATI said, “OATI is expanding and adding new product lines quickly, including smart energy and smart grid solutions. This Minnesota site was the absolute best location to serve the needs of our growing company and was made possible because of the commitment Minnesota has made to data center technologies in the recent Data Center legislation. This facility will represent the integral place data centers have in everyday life.”

Situated on the NE corner of the I-494 and Hwy. 100 interchange, this almost 4-acre South Campus will be home to a data center, office space, business suites. This location will also be used to display OATI smart grid solutions and other OATI products and services.

Jerry Dempsey, vice president of Sales and Marketing at OATI said, “Minnesota has a rich heritage of cutting edge research, development, and technology innovations across a myriad of industries. The OATI South Campus will place Minnesota at the forefront of smart grid technologies in the energy industry.”

The OATI South Campus is a recent addition to the company’s 22-acre headquarters located in northeast Minneapolis. The company plans to use an innovative design for this project and expects this site to further enhance the reputation of the I-494 corridor as the data technology center of the nation.

In other news, OATI recently announced that Burbank Water & Power (BWP) is going to utilize its webDistribute solution into its smart grid infrastructure.  The solution is going to deliver smart grid functions for BWP’s Integrated Automated Dispatch Systems (Integrated ADS).
