eMeter, which provides essential smart grid and consumer engagement software that enables electric, gas and water utilities to realize the full benefits of smart grid, announced it has been selected as a 2011 New Energy Pioneer by Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
“eMeter is thrilled to be recognized by Bloomberg New Energy Finance as one of today's energy industry pioneers,” said eMeter chief executive officer Gary Bloom, in a statement. “Arming our customers with the information they need to ensure safe, cost-effective energy delivery and engagement with consumers will be essential to moving the future global energy economy forward.”
In the recent months, eMeter formed strategic partnerships with leading players like Verizon, Accenture, IBM, SAP and Siemens. It claims to have more than four times the deployment scale of its nearest competitor.
With its innovation and domain expertise, the company has built a reputation in the industry, which the company has leveraged to build market-leading technology that will enable utilities to unleash the full benefits of the Smart Grid.
In its second year, the Bloomberg New Energy Finance Pioneers program identifies companies that make significant gains in the field of clean technology and innovation. The honorees were selected based on three criteria: potential scale, innovation and momentum.
According to Bloomberg announcement, this year's winners represent a broad range of industries including bioenergy, energy smart technologies, water and solar. Through their technologies, these companies have demonstrated the potential to be competitive in the marketplace and implemented on a large scale.
BrightSource Energy, Epuramat, Green Biologics, Metabolix, On-Ramp Wireless, Redwood Systems, SAGE Electrochromics, TaKaDu and Winafrique are other winners of 2011 New Energy Pioneer.
“The panel chose these companies because we feel they have the potential to change the energy landscape in a very significant way,” said Michael Liebreich, Summit chairman and head of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, in a statement. “In this fast-evolving sector, the Pioneers could play a major role in the world's transition to a lower carbon energy system.”
