Mobile telephony operator Orange Romania has expanded its 3G+ mobile data network to cover twenty four towns in rural Suceava County.
The company is said to have invested over 500,000 Euros in extending the 3G
network coverage in a pilot program planned by the company.
Orange is one of the most recognized telephony operators in Romania with nearly 10010 million customers. At the end of the first quarter of 2008, Orange Romania recorded revenues of 307 million euros which is clearly an increase by 8.4 percent compared to the revenue achieved in the same period the previous year.
3G+, otherwise termed as mobile Broadband, is a natural evolution of the current 3G network which offers faster data speeds.
In order to inform residents of these rural areas, Orange is sending out a caravan that will present mobile Internet. The caravan will have its own Orange shop where visitors will be able to try out and buy a range of Orange products, including pre-paid cards, service plans, handsets and modems.
As per the company’s plans, the Orange caravan will set off from Marginea and
Vicovu, and over the course of three months will 24 towns in Suceava County, including Arbore, Bodnareni, Clit, Botosana, Gura Putnei, Putna, Straja, Bivolaria, Vicovu de Sus, Vicovu de Jos, Bilca, Galanesti, Hurjuieni, Costisa, Fratautii Noi, Fratautii Vechi, and
Maneuti.
"The interest of Romanians for mobile Internet services in banda range is increasing. We are delighted that we can offer mobile broadband solutions Orange customers who live in rural areas where there was no other option for Internet access," said Thierry Millet, director of marketing Orange Romania.
