Mobispine Partners with SmartTrust to Drive Global Adoption of Mobile Internet Apps

By Anshu Shrivastava April 10, 2008
Mobispine (MOBS), a provider of client applications for the mobile Internet and SmartTrust, a provider of software technology and SIM management, have announced a partnership and distribution agreement.

This latest agreement allows SmartTrust to distribute Mobispine's application through the installed base of 600 million global SmartTrust WIB browsers.

In addition, the agreement enables Mobispine to reach 200 operators through SmartTrust’s global network and provide access to SmartTrust's worldwide sales force.

Mobispine expects that the agreement will enable it to broaden its global reach and further drive expansion and adoption.

“Mobispine is now tracking at 200,000 mobile downloads per month with users in more than 180 countries,” Dusyant Patel, CEO at Mobispine, said in a press release. “We're aggressively pursuing the goal of reaching 10 million users and linking up with an important partner like SmartTrust will drive momentum and fuel growth.”

He explained that Mobispine aggregates the web content and information transmitted by RSS feed, and is free to download. For mobile surfing, users only need a mobile phone that is internet-enabled and accepts Java programs.

In addition, Mobispine allows users to view web content on their mobile phone and to save datatime, this agent gets updated when the news article or blog changes.

“SmartTrust takes pride in partnering with Mobispine and making the valuable news and content reader application available to the existing and future customer global base,” said Robert Vangstad, vice president of business unit of VAS at SmartTrust.

He expects that this application in combination with SmartTrust WIB will add important revenue to the mobile operators and provide the end-users with an essential mobile content aggregator service.

The SmartTrust WIB is a SIM-based interpreter environments with implementations by over 35 different SIM card vendors and reportedly over an estimated 600 million cards currently enabled with this technology.

The SmartTrust WIB is supported by the SmartTrust Certified program that ensures card vendors’ implementations follow the published standard and thereby provide full interoperability.

According to Vangstad, for application developers such as Mobispine this means assurance that the application will run on all deployed platforms and certified SmartTrust WIB cards.
