D2 Technologies, a developer of embedded software platforms that facilitate IP communications, is teaming up with fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) solutions provider Comdasys on a joint FMC offering. This solution combines D2's newly enhanced vPort embedded software with voice call continuity capabilities and Comdasys' client server FMC technology.
The combined solutions provide enterprise users with continuous access and availability across the full range of CDMA, GSM, GPRS, 3G UMTS or WiFi
networks.
“To stay competitive, it’s critical for today’s workers to have a telephony service that provides continual, effortless access as they roam across wireless platforms,” said Doug Makishima, vice president of marketing and sales at D2 Technologies, in a statement. “Our joint offering with Comdasys, which utilizes our vPort MP with IMS-SIP
VCC software, providers enterprises with everything they need to keep workers connected and productive.”
D2's vPort embedded VoIP software offers support for integrated circuit (IC) and system-on-a-chip (SoC) designs, including ARM-, MIPS-, and QUICCore-based architectures. It enables manufacturers to rapidly deliver the latest IP communications devices by ensuring networking, signaling and voice processing functions execute as an integrated solution on a single processor.
“This joint product offers enterprises a comprehensive communication solution with the hottest features—such as presence and instant messaging—that help employees be more available and responsive,” said Martin Bitzinger, CTO of Comdasys, in a statement. “By integrating with D2's industry-leading vPort, we offer a client server solution that now extends to include UMTS and packet switched GPRS
networks.”
The Comdasys FMC solution combines enterprise communications by bringing together disparate networks to create a seamless, low-cost enterprise-wide foundation for mobility. It consists of the Comdasys FMC Controller and FMC Client, extending the telephony features of PBXs and softswitches to dual-mode devices, providing the lowest cost routing and seamless call handover from GSM/CDMA/UMTS
to WiFi networks.
The Comdasys FMC Controller is an all-in-one network appliance and includes a multiservice router, a session border controller with security enhancements, QoS
and FMC voice applications.
