Motorola has launched its next-generation Push-To-Talk over Cellular (PoC) solution. Optimized for CDMA 1x networks equipped with EVDO Rev A data capability, the new solution leverages the improved performance capabilities provided by the CDMA 1x EVDO Rev A standard including higher speed data rates, low call set-up time latency and quality of service (QoS).
Mark Poulin, senior director of Push-To-Talk product management for Motorola, stated that their latest Push-To-Talk over Cellular release demonstrates their commitment to delivering innovative and relevant applications that enable service providers to offer both enterprises and consumers a truly competitive communications experience.
Providing walkie-talkie like capability to mobile devices equipped with special PoC client software, the new solution connects people to those they communicate with most. The company points out that both enterprise and personal users can simply push a button on their PoC-enabled handsets and connect directly with individuals or groups as well as quickly share information.
Motorola refers to studies showing that customers would appreciate access to Push-To-Talk on a variety of mobile devices for use both at work and at play. Company sources explain their newest PoC solution provides competitive call set-up time performance with other PoC and proprietary solutions, "buddy list" availability, an open ecosystem to support a range of mobile devices from multiple manufacturers equipped with the PoC client and access to the Internet to enable "push-to-X" features and services to complement basic PoC.
Motorola’s next-generation Push-To-Talk over Cellular (PoC) solution paves the way for new enterprise applications such as Push-To-Productivity and encrypted, PC-based dispatching. The company believes this will enable companies to enhance communication among employees, customers and suppliers.
Last week, Motorola also announced that REDtone, one of the Malaysia’s main alternative communications, multimedia innovator and service providers, has launched East Malaysia’s first WiMAX broadband services, powered by Motorola technology.
Under the agreement, the first phase of the WiMAX network covers Kota Kinabalu business district, which will enable high speed Internet access as well as data applications for enterprises.
