A San Francisco-based mobile media company announced today that it’s going to join a major music conglomerate to offer content from a wide range of artists.
Officials from SendMe Mobile say the deal with Warner Music Group will bring thousands of new ringtones, ringers and wallpaper images to cell phone users.
The company’s co-founder and chief executive officer, Russell Klein, said that giving members access to the arists “marks a milestone in our efforts to deliver the best and broadest catalog of premium content in the market.”
“We are thrilled to work with WMG to not only deliver this content, but also deliver integrated mobile media programs that will allow music fans to experience their favorite WMG artists in entirely new ways,” Klein said.
SendMe officials say their company “turns any mobile phone into a portable playground.”
The company, founded two years ago and backed by GrandBanks Capital, Spark Capital and True Ventures, has three properties – SendMeMobile.com, SoLow.com and mbuzzy.com – that deliver content from today’s pop culture icons, niche independent creations, original material and mobile games, company officials say.
The deal with Warner is expected to bolster SendMe’s already wide-ranging roster of musicians.
Some of Warner’s labels include Asylum, Atlantic, Bad Boy, Cordless, East West, Elektra, Lava, Nonesuch, Reprise, Rhino, Roadrunner, Rykodisc, Sire, Warner Bros. and Word.
According to SendMe’s Web site, some of the company’s new ringtones include Coldplay, Lil Wayne, Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Kate Perry, whose hit “I Kissed a Girl” seems inescapable to anyone with a radio.
Officials from Warner say SendMe represents a way for more artists to reach more music fans.
“With SendMe’s creative platform, we’re able to integrate their mobile product offerings into our marketing efforts to give consumers more ways to experience and access our artists’ music-based mobile products,” said Stephen Bryan, the company’s senior vice president of digital strategy and business development.
In the coming months, officials from both companies say, SendMe and Warner will debut a series of additional mobile products available exclusively at two Web sites, SendMeMobile.com and SoLow.com.
Also, the companies say, Warner and SendMe will offer artist-related experiential prizes and content on SoLow.com, SendMe’s mobile game and contest site.
“Soon, fans can visit SoLow.com to bid on one-of-a-kind artist giveaways, some of which will include opportunities to meet and hang out with today’s hottest artists,” officials from SendMe say.
