Paradox and Tinynode Merge to Build Smart Ecosystem

By Ken Briodagh May 12, 2015

Swiss technology company, Paradox Engineering, and Tinynode, maker of wireless vehicle detection systems, are now joined to create an extended Smart City ecosystem.

Smart tech will become ever more crucial to meeting the increasing needs of cities as they grow smarter thanks to the IoT. Cities will need to manage key resources to improve livability, sustainability and local economy. The first step in that evolution will likely be in the smart urban mobility and transportation markets. Citizens can spend up to 60 percent of their driving time randomly looking for a parking space, according to recent research. Smart vehicles can solve that problem, among many others.

Tinynode, which had been owned by Shockfish, makes high performance detection systems for parking applications. Now that it’s been paired with Paradox Engineering’s PE.AMI smart urban network platform, city leaders can proactively develop a network communications infrastructure to bring a little smart to their cities. PE.AMI is a wireless/PLC mesh network multi-application platform that supports multiple services with an IPv6/6LoWPAN infrastructure.

“The spark for a smarter world can be lit by using smart technologies to connect, control and manage the multitude of objects which are disseminated in our cities, therefore creating smart environments for today and tomorrow,” said Gianni Minetti, President and CEO, Paradox Engineering. “Thanks to the company proximity with Tinynode, we are now able to fast-track the development of sound urban mobility platforms and accelerate the adoption of future proof network infrastructures for any kind of smart service based on the Internet of Things.”

“Tinynode aims at helping to create a smarter, safer, easier and more comfortable driving world, and we keep pushing to improve performance of our systems for vehicle detection,” said Pierre Metrailler, CEO, Shockfish. “We have been partnering with the best experts in signal processing, wireless and low power communication, and are now delighted to recognize in Paradox Engineering the unique competencies and synergies that are needed to boost Tinynode products and business development strategy, with the possibility to address new smart markets on a potential global scale.”
