Intel, Infineon and Trusted Computing Group and many others to shed insight on IoT at security summit in Florida

Norwalk, CT—December 5, 2016—TMC and Crossfire Media announced today IoT Security Summit will return to IoT Evolution Conference & Expo being held February 7-10, 2017 at the Greater Ft. Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The summit will take place on Friday, February 10th from 9:00AM to 12:15PM and will focuses on Security in the IoT: Incompetence, Malice & Solutions.  IoT Evolution Expo will feature a robust exhibit floor, powerful keynotes, case studies, live demos, unique sessions, special events, networking opportunities and much more.

“Our Security Summit is aimed at bringing security solutions into the forefront, without having a lot of Chicken Little-style “the sky is falling” rhetoric. I get several PR requests to let those speeches into my event. I do not allow them, because they are not solutions-oriented” said Carl Ford, CEO, Crossfire Media, executive director of content, IoT Evolution. “The recent spate of “IoT DDOS” attacks has many folks in panic mode. In some ways, I understand that view. The attack was ended by the perpetrator, not thanks to a solution, so it feels a bit like the sword of Damocles is hanging over us all as we wait for the next attack.”

The security track includes:

Friday, February 10, 2017

9:00AM - State of the Disunion- This roundtable session will feature IoT security experts who will outline and discuss the challenges the industry faces in putting security standards in place now, what mistakes have been made and make recommendations on what the next steps should be.

9:30AM - Top Down or Bottom Up: Who is at Fault, and who Should Take Action Right Now? - Ken Briodagh, editorial director of IoT Evolution and Carl Ford, CEO, Crossfire Media, and their guests, will argue the problems facing the industry now and whether or not the OEMs or the DNSSec folks need to go to the woodshed.

10:00AM - Standards Bodies for Security - Steve Hanna, Infineon and Trusted Computing Group - Standards Bodies for Security are often a cry for consensus or a coalition of the willing. We have asked the existing standards bodies to discuss their activities, their interfaces and what developers should understand before coding an IoT solution.

11:15AM - Keynote Address by Intel - Gary Davis, Intel Security - In this keynote session, Intel Security will outline the state-of-the art IoT security measures available to the industry right now, and how these strategies are helping to mitigate such disasters as Mirai, SSHowDown and the rest.

11:45A M- Common Ground Solutions - In this closing session, we’ll try to take all that we’ve discussed during the day and posit some concrete solutions and strategies to avoid the worst: an IoT that will never meet its potential thanks to security failures and lack of trust. The audience will be invited to join the discussion and offer their ideas and will leave with a list of next steps.
