KORE Telematics Selects Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers

By Anil Sharma May 26, 2010

KORE Telematics, a fully digital wireless network provider specializing exclusively in the rapidly expanding machine-to-machine (M2M) communications market, has selected and deployed the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers to support its continued growth.

'Fundamentally, the network is our business, so we must ensure that it will handle everything our growing business throws at it, while providing the proverbial five 9s of reliability,' said Alex Brisbourne, president and chief operating officer, KORE Telematics, in a statement.

Brisbourne said that the carrier-class Cisco ASR 1000, with its high availability and redundancy, provided the ideal foundation for the company to scale its business.

"This platform -- together with our proven experience in integrating our network directly into partners' M2M applications, delivering business-class networks that provide unparalleled connectivity, and providing customer-directed and customer-driven services -- will transform our business,' he said.

Officials with Cisco said that Compugen, a Cisco Gold Certified Partner, deployed the company's ASR 1000 Series routers to help enable KORE to rapidly scale its business to support more than 11 million wireless devices while delivering high reliability, network redundancy and superior system performance.

Company officials said that the Cisco ASR 1000 Series, powered by the industry's first scalable and programmable application-aware network, the Cisco QuantumFlow Processor, delivers security services, quality of service, Cisco Network Based Application Recognition (NBAR), Cisco IOS Flexible Packet Matching (FPM), broadband aggregation and Cisco Unified Border Element with wire speeds up to 20 gigabits per second.

'We are delighted that KORE has chosen the Cisco IP Next-Generation Network and the Cisco ASR 1000 as the foundation of its mobile virtual network operator business,' said Mark Kummer, vice president, service provider, Cisco Canada.

Kummer said that the fact that KORE adopted this technology underscores Cisco's principle that the network is at the core of communications and demonstrates the extraordinary potential for organizations to rapidly expand their business when supported by technology that is highly reliable and resilient.

'We are pleased to be able to help leading technology service providers such as KORE Telematics provide high-availability solutions to its customers,' said Harry Zarek, president and chief executive officer, Compugen Inc.

Zarek said that this is a fantastic example of specialists within KORE, Cisco and Compugen coming together to design and deliver a robust solution.
