Cradlepoint Empowers Enterprises to Cut WAN Wires

By Ken Briodagh November 04, 2015

Cradlepoint, a cloud-delivered 4G LTE network enterprises solutions provider, has announced that it has integrated 4G LTE for primary and failover connectivity into a single, dual-modem platform. This platform is designed for mobile and micro branches that can be deployed, managed, and optimized via the cloud. The goal is to help enterprises in retail, financial services, transportation, and the public sector to cut network wires and leverage 4G LTE to improve network efficiency, business continuity and incremental revenue.

“Enterprise adoption of 4G LTE has grown significantly in the last five years because cellular connectivity enables these businesses to address WAN challenges that traditional wired networks cannot,” said Peter Christy, research director, 451 Research. “Carrier investments in consumer 4G LTE networks have led to improved performance and reduced access costs. Platforms that incorporate 4G LTE as a means for both primary connectivity and failover redundancy enable enterprises to act quickly by deploying secure, high-speed wireless network links, and at the same time improve network availability at a fraction of the cost of traditional redundant wired links.”

Cradlepoint says that its cellular WAN platforms are the only 4G LTE networking solutions to offer dual-modem multi-carrier support, Unified Threat Management, and now dual-modem primary and failover capabilities to meet the evolving needs of distributed enterprises. The latest additions to the Cradlepoint solutions portfolio include the AER1600 platform for micro branch networks such as retail pop-up stores, mobile construction offices, or store-in-store insurance or banking services, as well as the COR IBR1100 dual-modem dock for in-vehicle networks like police cars, ambulances, and mass transit. Cradlepoint also includes scheduled firmware updates to meet PCI requirements, an API that allows customers to customize solution features via the cloud, and proactive scanning for malicious rogue access networks.

“Cradlepoint continues to lead the WWAN market and respond directly to customer feedback and demands with innovative 4G LTE solutions that support the most critical connectivity requirements in every network, from pop-up retail stores to fleets of city buses,” said Ian Pennell, CMO, Cradlepoint. “Every enterprise has multiple requirements for 4G LTE networks and we’re helping them develop executable strategies with reliable, secure connectivity today that will support growing demands into the future.”
