Glass has become not only something one can look through, but also vital to how we communicate, survive, and strive in this technologically-driven world. We are able to use tablets, smartphones, and other devices because glass is the interface between us and the device that holds all of our information. It operates between us and our ability to connect to the world.

Corning, a specialty glass and ceramic manufacturer, has released a series of videos called “A Day Made of Glass” to introduce their specially-branded glass.  Corning is using a proprietary fusion process and formulation to produce glass that is exceptionally smooth and dimensionally stable. This process means that the glass is capable of handling the extremely high processing temperatures necessary to bring next-generation displays to life.

“Glass is essential to making this vision a reality,” said Dr. Jeffrey Evenson, SVP, Corning.

The “A Day Made of Glass” series also depicts the specialty glass and its mobile features. The company’s Gorilla Glass is a tough and thin to protect mobile devices. Also, the company is making every attempt to enhance technology by addressing vision strain problems by developing anti-reflective technology and antimicrobial glass.

Since 1970, Corning has manufactured a low loss optical fiber, designed for storing massive amounts of data and bandwidth. Corning currently offers a full suite of optical components from fiber-to-the-home, to data centers, to optical connections between consumer devices.

“We continue to engineer glass at the nano level to solve tough problems and unleash exciting new possibilities,” said Evenson.

These advancements in technology are not years away. They are being used presently. Corning strives to be at the forefront of inventing and manufacturing new and unique ways of enhancing the way in which people use and enjoy technology.
