What a crazy week here at the Evolution offices. The first thing you must have noticed is that we have launched our new look and new home at IoTEvolutionWorld.com. We’re very excited about the new site, and the redesign, and I hope you are too.

But that’s enough of that. Now: the news.
This week was Hannover Messe in Germany, and a show like that is going to bring with it a ton of news. First, from our Fog channel, was the announcement that C-Labs has fielded a way to use edge computing, paired with the cloud, to make manufacturing more efficient. The bigger news from Hannover was from Microsoft, however. The company made a series of big partnership announcements that made one thing very clear: Microsoft’s Azure platform is going to be here for the long haul.
In automotive news, the U.K. is about to see an influx of connected car “black boxes” to monitor driving telematics, thanks to collaboration between Novatel Wireless and In-Car Cleverness Limited. The new product will be aimed at making all drivers safer, while helping fleet managers and insurance companies protect their investments. On the other side of the world, in South Korea, SK Telecom this week released an on-board diagnostics device that will help car owners determine the course of problems, and repair them, before the problems rear their heads.
In a final bit of interesting partnership news, Cisco has teamed up with Identiv to “create solutions for the IoT.” The description is still pretty vague, but it looks like Identiv will be building new IoT solutions on top of Cisco platforms, with an eye toward physical control systems, outside or virtual tools. Sounds pretty cool.
