Healthcare Solution Blends Bluetooth and RFID Tech at RFID Journal Live!

By Ken Briodagh April 15, 2015

The Healthcare industry has a ton to gain from getting into M2M solutions as soon as they are viable, and many companies are doing just that.

Bluvision, a maker of enterprise-level Bluetooth applications, and Zebra Technologies Corporation, a M2M solutions developer, together unveiled a new jointly made healthcare solution that uses the Zatar IoT platform by Zebra and Bluvision's iBEEK technology at the RFID Journal Live! Show in San Diego, beginning April 15.

The goal of the solution was to bring the location-awareness of iBeacons together with the tracking abilities of RFID chips to enhance medical tracking and reporting through M2M communications.

“Advanced IoT solutions are critical to streamlining operations in the healthcare industry,” said Thomas Kurian, Senior Director, Strategy for New Growth Platforms, Zebra Technologies. “IoT offers great opportunities in healthcare and this use case demonstrates how it can help the industry increase patient safety and care.”

managing several areas of medical operations.

“Beacon sensors are important in providing business intelligence to customers because the data gathered helps them make better, faster decisions in areas like business processes, supply chain and customer experiences,” said Lior Ganel, COO, Bluvision. “Our IoT beacons allow enterprises to sense, control and understand the physical world by making objects smarter.”

This kind of innovation is exactly what will help bring the entire healthcare complex into the IoT, and when that happens, the industry can finally start to find efficiencies while not sacrificing patient care. Instead, medical professionals will be able to work smarter and improve care.

And that makes us feel good.
