I have been given the privilege of hearing a few stories under embargo for the M2M Evolution Conference & Expo. When I asked, I have been given quotes and in some cases I have articles written and waiting for publication eagerly in the queue.
In general though there is a theme, and it is enablement.
The platforms are delivering tools that make the deployments quicker and so simple even I can create an IoT application.
The enablement comes with cloud and local implementations, hosted services and RESTful interfaces. Robert Lutz, from Systech, says M2M now means from “Months to Minutes.”
Syed “Z” Hosain of Aeris and I have done a webinar on Fog Computing and the ability to deliver localized apps with their Neo hosted services is another case where integrators, developers and entrepreneurs can capitalize on opportunity.
The significance is not in the speed, it’s in the opportunity for an ecosystem to develop around these companies.
I am at the M2M Evolution Conference and Expo, which is collocated at ITEXPO. I have history with the VoIP community. The VoIP community never changed the game like we thought it would 20 years ago. While it could have been something that enabled everyone, it ended up consolidating into the PBXs, the carriers and some peripheral services. I think it failed because the channel to the customer never changed.
It’s my objective to enable the channels for IoT businesses that make it easy for developers, entrepreneurs and integrators to exist in this ecosystem.
Based on the announcements and improvements I have seen from the community, I believe the ground work has been staged. Now all we have to do is connect to the needs in the community.
Everyone is talking about M2M and the IoT. If you want to learn more about the strategies you can implement today, hear case studies and get insight from the leaders and innovators in this space, be sure to register and attend M2M Evolution Conference & Expo taking place January 27–30, 2015 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
