Aeris Looks to Make Things Viral on the Internet

By Carl Ford January 21, 2015

I am working on a number of articles about where the Internet of Things (IoT) is heading as we are rapidly accelerating in the general deployment and availability of IoT solutions. We have several trends going on at once and the interaction between these trends is making new markets.

Like catalysts in biology, the IoT is being enabled by binding enzymes that make the process work. Aeris brings such a catalyst with their Neo affiliate program. The Neo Affiliate Program enables partners to avoid the complexity of determining implementation partnerships. Neo simplifies the connectivity buying experience while simultaneously improving profitability through a revenue sharing arrangement.

The affiliate program has no membership fees and is designed to support developers, manufacturers and distributors who are looking for the right go to market approach.

Often these groups are engaged by the customer to get ready to deploy only to be delayed by the customer having to select the service provider. In some cases, the customer of record finds the selection to be a stalling point for the momentum of the IoT solution development.

The company illustrated that “Neo Affiliate Program partners can easily integrate Neo into their buying process, in turn delivering significant value to their customers.”

Other advantages include the ability to gain additional revenues by being associated with the service and not just the initial development. Using the affiliate network’s analytic abilities can enable opportunity and analysis. This works to the affiliates advantage because it keeps them in contact and engaged with the customer in case future development is desired.

Additionally, the company notes “through this program, partners receive a portion of the monthly revenue of each customer who signs up for the service. As their customers grow, partners get access to an expanding recurring revenue stream. Based on usage and length of the M2M program, partners can easily double the profitability of a customer.”

The analytics available to the affiliates on a monthly basis include a report indicating “key characteristics of their customers’ usage – including amount of data usage, location, traffic patterns, and other key data points”.

The reports provide the collective analysis needed while maintaining confidentiality.

In general, the pressure to make IoT solutions off the shelf and replicable is making solutions like Neo essential for the expanding channel of IoT solution developers.

Everyone is talking about M2M and the IoT. If  you want to learn more about the strategies you can implement today, hear case studies and get insight from the leaders and innovators in this space, be sure to register and attend M2M Evolution Conference & Expo taking place January 27–30, 2015 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.  Stay in touch with everything happening at the event -- follow us on Twitter
