Software design company Cyan Holdings reported this Tuesday that it has appointed a new member to its Board of Directors. Peter Mainz, the newest member of the Cyan board, will serve as a non-executive director.
Cyan says it deals in mesh-based, flexible wireless solutions that cater to the utility metering and lighting control markets. And current mission meshes well with Mainz background as an executive at various other companies.
Most recently, Mainz was the CEO and president of Sensus Inc., and global enterprise that the recent announcement says delivers “smart meters, communications systems, software and services for the electric, gas and water industries with operations in 22 countries across the world.” His success at Sensus came following other executive roles at Schlumberger, a global oil field services company, and IBM, the global computing giant.
Cyan's announcement includes comments from both the Executive Chairman of the Board John Cronin and from Mainz himself. To start, Cronin addresses his excitement at having Mainz join the Board and mentions Mainz's expertise and history that he will bring to the company.
“We are delighted to have Peter join the Board,” Cronin says. “I believe his appointment will significantly enhance the Company’s ability to accelerate its strategic objectives, and in particular its position at the forefront of a number of emerging markets. Peter is very well connected in smart metering, brings with him significant experience and will no doubt assist the company in achieving commercial success in its chosen markets.”
Cyan's website lists its smart electricity metering technology as able to allow suppliers to forecast demand and bill customers more accurately. Its smart lighting control units—those that monitor and conduct lamps such as energy-efficient light emitting diodes (LEDs)—can allow various markets to save money by using efficient lighting they can control remotely. Finally, Cyan markets its smart gas and water metering technology as able to help companies effectively monitor and deliver water and gas with a minimum of power usage.
In the statement, Mainz also expressed his excitement, and he mentioned, as a whole, the technology Cyan uses to lessen business losses while subsequently helping the environment.
“Cyan clearly is a pioneer in the industry and I’m excited about the differentiated emerging market solution and approach,” Mainz said. “I look forward to working with John and the team helping the company grow and expand as Cyan unlocks value for its customers by reducing both technical and commercial losses, whilst also delivering environmental benefits.”
