GateTel Adds Telit m2mAir Mobile to its Portfolio

By Casey Houser June 16, 2014

Machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions provider Telit Wireless Solutions announced recently that its client, GateTel, will begin offering the Telit service group m2mAir Mobile in its line of xE910 module-based terminals and gateways.

In its announcement, Telit says that the m2mAir Mobile product is designed to reach businesses that wish to deploy M2M solutions in mobile networks. The m2mAir offers an entire suite of products that seek to help businesses of all sizes and in all situations. The suite includes resources that can help businesses that desire SIM-only connectivity, SIM and module connectivity, or module-only services -- what Telit refers to as Value Added Services.

The GateTel xE910 family of modules seeks to interchange with a number of cellular technologies and geographies. It is a suite of pin-to-pin compatible modules that users can easily swap to fit their individual needs.

m2mAir will reportedly include application-specific Python scripts that, in addition to its connectivity offerings and its Value Added Services, will help businesses easily deploy M2M solutions with a minimum of work on each customer's end. GateTel President Jacob Nelik spoke about this possibility in the Telit announcement.

“By integrating the xE910 modules into an off-the-shelf device, adding connectivity and value added services, and providing repeatable, application-specific Python scripts, we are now able to get our customers 95% there,” Nelik said. “We are an exclusively Telit-based shop and have been from very early on. The addition of the m2mAIR services portfolio really completes the picture. Now we’re not just offering hardware. We’re really a one stop shop.”

For its part, Telit expressed its own excitement about further enhancing its relationship with GateTel. Yossi Moscovitz, president of Connectivity & Services at Telit, said GateTel's embrace of Telit's products can help the business world realize M2M connections that are truly plug-and-play.

“By simplifying the value chain,” Moscovitz said, “we can together reduce time to market, improve reliability and deliver the affordable, easy-to-use solutions that take IoT from dream to reality.”
