M2M FEATURE NEWS

SMARTCom's New 1150 M2M Model Delivers Quite the Punch

By Miguel Leiva-Gomez July 22, 2013

SMARTCom Solutions, a provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) technology products, just finished the debut of its new SMARTCom 1150 3G wireless gateway. Its features allow it to make wireless-to-wireless data transfers faster, more reliable and easier to integrate with its brand new 3G modem.

The SMARTCom 1150 3G wireless gateway is a low-cost appliance that can be retrofitted into any M2M or energy monitoring station. Its primary purpose is reading and routing electric meter data or anything from a connected Ethernet or 802.15.4 wireless device. It transmits its data through a 3G cellular network to any server or cloud application.

As you might have inferred, the gateway already comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and even transmits and receives data through the special 802.15.4 LR-WPAN commercial Wi-Fi specification.

Using the 802.15.4 specification, devices transmit data through a low band, leading to a higher battery life. The device's internal battery reports power loss. Aside from this, the SMARTCom 1150 is InferStack-ready, allowing for easy integration with the M2M software.

SMARTCom's CTO, Daniel Perez, said, “This company is very committed to leading the product development pathway into the Machine to Machine segment with the new SMARTCom 1150. This 3G gateway is at the top of its class, and SMARTCom is excited to incorporate this powerful gateway into its exponentially growing market.”
