M2M Communication Changes Healthcare with Important Data to Cloud via M2M Apps

By Shankar Pandiath December 11, 2012

With drastic societal changes, growing healthcare costs and increasing casualties of non-communicable disease, healthcare demands mobile health, assisted living and more efficient practice in home care.

It’s also important to make these solutions available quickly, cost effectively, user friendly and compliant to industry standards. As a result, the M2M Challenge innovation competition is looking for top solutions across diverse fields, including healthcare.

The program is supported by Ericsson and Swisscom, title sponsors with VARTA Microbattery and Telit Wireless solutions.

Swisscom is a reputable telecom provider based in Switzerland, offering customers the advanced Limmex Emergency Watch, which enables the user to effectively set up a phone call to an emergency call center or select individuals. Limmex is a first-of-its-kind emergency watch, made possible by the sub-compact dimensions of the Telit GE865-QUAD GSM/GPRS module.

Another example of healthcare revolution is GlucoTel, the advanced glucose monitoring and management system by BodyTel. It highlights how the patient can effectively benefit from the latest health monitoring systems enabled by M2M communications.

Important data can be sent via Bluetooth to a home gateway, which again sends the data in an SSL encrypted form to a secure online database.

For both cloud and on the measuring side, the system guarantees that data cannot be seen without permission.

Technological concepts in innovative M2M healthcare solutions can be submitted for the M2M Challenge, the international innovation competition in the area of M2M technology, before December 31, 2012 at its official site. A global panel of prestigious experts will thoroughly evaluate all the concept submissions on the basis of several criteria, including degree of technology innovation, market potential, and usage of the “Internet of Things.”

The winner of the competition will be honored with a cash prize of $5,000, and all finalists will get the opportunity to present their solutions to the larger global audience in the international industry and media representatives.

M2M Apps is a knowledge-based framework which includes the complete M2M ecosystem. Featuring a host of visionaries and oracles in the space, the application goes deep into the issues facing the M2M industry. It is used as an advanced networking tool to connect business with industry experts, helping in guiding and driving the business forward.

It serves as the search engine for Internet of Things, and at the same time, is the marketing arm for big and small companies, helping them boost their social media outreach and search engine rankings.
