Novatel Wireless' M2M CDMA2000 1X Module Enabler Certified to Work with Verizon Wireless Network

By Sujata Garud July 05, 2012

In order to address challenges in automotive, healthcare, retail, transportation and utility industries, Novatel Wireless’ machine-to-machine (M2M) CDMA2000 1X module, the Enabler HS 3001, is used by many enterprises. Novatel Wireless has now announced one more development in the product. The company has now announced that its machine-to-machine (M2M) CDMA2000 1X module, the Enabler HS 3001, has been certified for use on the Verizon Wireless network.

Novatel Wireless is a provider of wireless solutions to carriers, distributors, retailers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). With the new development, the module allows CDMA 800 and 1900 MHz and a rich on-board N4A Communication and Management Software agent to offer speedy market introduction of M2M Deployments on Verizon Wireless' CDMA Network.

In a press release, Rob Hadley, CMO of Novatel Wireless, said, “We are excited to expand our module portfolio for our M2M customers by offering a future-proof module on the Verizon Wireless network. Our proven form factor supports rapid product development, robustness in the field, and scalability as our customers' needs grow."

The Enabler HS 3001 module is one of the Enfora Enabler series and delivers small size and industry-leading performance, reliable connectivity, and device intelligence required for the M2M applications. The module takes care of security, remote maintenance and control (RMAC), automatic vehicle location (AVL) and asset tracking, point of sale (POS), mHealth, and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and automatic meter reading (AMR).

Michael Palmer, vice president of global product strategy and alliances for Verizon Enterprise Solutions, said, “Verizon is helping to make embedded M2M more cost-effective and widely adopted. The Novatel Wireless HS3001 provides a high-quality alternative for original equipment manufacturers to develop the next wave of devices that can address industry-specific challenges and unlock new business opportunities in the marketplace.”

Novatel Wireless was recently in news when IoTevolutionworld reported that the company picked Tiesse SpA to enable or manage wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) and telemetric solutions for a range of machine-to-machine applications, including Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) concentrators. Tiesse is an Italian telemetry device manufacturer in Torino that designs and produces routers and networking equipment.

Verizon is a sponsor of ITEXPO West 2012. To be held Oct. 2-5 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX, ITEXPO is the world’s premier IP communications event. For more information on IEXPO West 2012 click here.
