As reported by IoTevolutionworld, Novatel Wireless Inc., a provider of wireless solutions to carriers, distributors, retailers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), has selected Tiesse SpA to enable or manage wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) and telemetric solutions for an array of machine-to-machine applications, including Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) concentrators.
Tiesse is an Italian telemetry device manufacturer in Torino that designs and produces routers and networking equipment.
The Enabler module HS 3001, part of the Enfora Enabler series, is being integrated into Tiesse's Levanto GSM/GPRS/LAN routers. It is the low-power platform that will provide performance, reliable connectivity and device intelligence to remotely monitor and manage situated M2M applications and the Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) System.
The system is a host-driven, multilevel network system to collect meter readings for any electricity, water, heat and oil meters that are connected.
AMRs work as a communication gateway for the data concentrator which handles the periodic and on-demand readings and provides the transfer of data to a central database for billing. Utility providers use AMRs to keep track of consumption.
Fabrizia Montefiori, managing director of Tiesse, is excited to be working with Novatel Wireless and helping the company grow and expand while continuing a reliable service for wired and wireless M2M platforms.
Novatel Wireless is thrilled to have been chosen by Tiesse SpA as a supplier of its Italian-made professional router for smart meter deployments with its M2M enabler modules, as officials know their M2M customers can benefit from such a system that offers mobile network connectivity to critical environment installations, access to the Internet and robustness. The Levanto is capable of operating under extreme conditions and temperatures.
With Tiesse providing high-quality M2M security and Novatel Wireless providing wireless connectivity, consumers have a solution for today's demanding M2M applications, including an AMR system providing utility readings with upgraded communication development for M2M platform deployments, wherever the location.
