Global Telesat Wins Tracking Service Contract from Nation's Premier Emergency Response Organization

By Madhubanti Rudra May 02, 2012

Global Telesat Corp, a subsidiary of unmanned aerial vehicles- maker, World Surveillance Group Inc., announced the winning of a contract from one of the United States' premier emergency response organization.

The contract-win signifies GTC's active marketing efforts for taking its mobile satellite solutions to commercial and government customers domestically and internationally.

Under the contract, GTC will be providing specialized satellite tracking devices, satellite airtime and online mapping capabilities to this premier emergency response organization, the company clarified in a press release. As part of a disaster preparedness and emergency relief program, the organization is going to leverage this GPS-enabled service to locate and monitor the movements of a variety of the organization's mobile assets across the U.S.

Using GTC's proprietary mapping portal, the customers will be able to visually locate and monitor their assets in real time from a PC or mobile device via a Google Maps interface. In addition, the service will also enable the customers to get historic data showing past movements of the mobile assets.

GTC’s tracking solution leverages the GPS technology and Globalstar satellite networks, and send one-way predefined messages with their respective GPS locations and other information to the customers. This enables the customer to track the beginning or end of the mobile asset's journey or its movement out of a pre-authorized zone.

“We are honored to be selected by the United States' premier emergency response organization to provide GTC's specialized satellite tracking services and look forward to servicing the critical needs of this customer for years to come. This contract award is significant to GTC as it supports our recently implemented business model of leveraging our capabilities as a proven and reliable defense contractor as we aggressively pursue various additional revenue generating opportunities both in the defense and commercial sectors,” WSGI's president and CEO, Glenn D. Estrella, said in a statement.

World Surveillance Group Inc last month announced that GTC experienced a significant increase in sales of mobile satellite solutions ("MSS") during the first quarter of 2012, due in part to the recent launch of its e-commerce MSS website, www.gtc-usa.com. GTC's sales during the first quarter of 2012 reflect the best quarterly sales period GTC has had since its acquisition by WSGI.
