Multi-Tech Debuts latest Analog-to-Wireless Converter

By Jyothi Shanbhag October 31, 2011

Multi-Tech has released a new addition to its line of analog-to-wireless converters, the MultiConnect AW analog-to-wireless converters.

This latest MultiConnect AW analog-to-wireless converter is designed in such a way that it allows legacy equipment with built-in analog modems to connect to the cellular packet data or circuit-switched data networks.

Users can use this affordable MultiConnect AW converter by avoiding the traditional dial-up PSTN network and integrated or external cellular modems. It includes integrated quad-band GSM/GPRS modem, V.34/33.6K analog modem and SLIC for PSTN emulation.

It also supports analog modem connections from 300 baud to 33.6K bps with error correction and data compression and includes SMA antenna connector and SIM socket.

The new addition, the MT200A2W model, allows Multi-Tech to offer a more complete line of analog-to-wireless converters to better serve specific M2M applications and meet a full range of feature requirements. A major difference between the existing and new models is the chassis.

The new model poses an attractive plastic chassis, which is ideal for indoor environments, while the existing model is in a rugged metal chassis for industrial applications.

“This new model was designed with the home healthcare market in mind, but it also extends the Multi-Tech product offering and allows all customers to choose the model that is right for them,” said Don Miller, Senior Product Manager, Multi-Tech Systems.

Multi-Tech’s innovative design has till date earned 80+ patents, 20+ million devices that are used by thousands of customers worldwide and certifications from more than 30 carriers and over 80 countries.

In related news, Multi-Tech Systems announced it has joined nPhase Alliance Partner Program and unveiled nPhase ready open communications gateways. The MultiConnect OCG (Open Communications Gateways) incorporates M2M software from nPhase, a 50/50 joint venture between Qualcomm and Verizon.

With this integration, Multi-Tech simplifies M2M application development and accelerates their speed to market for M2M devices deployed on the Verizon and Vodafone mobile broadband networks, according to company officials.
