5G Connect Future Program Taking Startup Applications

As 5G enters the mainstream, it is still finding its footing. It will touch all points of industry – from warehouses and manufacturing lines, to hospitals, hotels and homes. It won’t happen overnight, but 5G products and services will drive our reality.

Earlier this year, the 5G Connected Future Program took flight. Created by the T-Mobile Accelerator, Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners and the Georgia Institute of Technology, and managed by the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), the incubator is now accepting startup applications to build and test 5G use cases.

“With applications open, the city of Peachtree Corners and Curiosity Lab will soon host even more companies testing the next generation of 5G innovation,” said Betsy Plattenburg, executive director of Curiosity Lab. “No one knows what industries will take off with 5G, but with the coaching, mentoring, and growth that each incubator participant will receive, many will successfully leave the program ready to disrupt the intelligent mobility and smart city industries.”

Industry veteran Robert “Bob” Siegel will drive the 5G Connected Future Program, recruiting startups working on 5G technology, and guiding their incubator experience.

Peachtree Corners offers a unique 500-acre smart city technology park, a living lab powered by T-Mobile where over 8,000 people work or live, boasting a 25,000 square-foot Innovation Center in the Curiosity Lab and a 3-mile autonomous vehicle test track: The perfect IoT playground.   

“Innovation doesn't take place in a vacuum, which is why entrepreneurs and startups require the knowledge and resources provided by partnerships such as ours,” said John Avery, director of ATDC. “With technology support and coaching from business leaders at T-Mobile, Georgia Tech, and Curiosity Lab, as well as Bob joining the team, startups in the 5G incubator can transform their ideas into scalable companies with functional 5G technology.”
