Global Certification Forum Announces Availability of Onem2m Certification Program

By

Global Certification Forum (GCF) recently announced the immediate availability of its oneM2M certification program, following on an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing earlier this year with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA). oneM2M certification through GCF will facilitate interoperability and standardization for Internet of Things (IoT) applications where performance, reliability and security are critical, according to the release.

oneM2M is a global standardization body for M2M and the IoT, with over 200 partner members including global standards bodies and companies from the IT, telecoms and other sectors. With 5G happening now and the prolific growth of IoT connectivity, the oneM2M certification is critical to the standardization of converging technologies from multiple industries, ensuring scalability, interoperability and security.

“The exponential growth of the M2M and IoT market can only succeed with standardization, which is why we work with partners like GCF and TTA,” said Roland Hechwartner, Technical Plenary Chair at oneM2M. “The availability of this GCF certification program means a guarantee of seamless operability for developers who are building applications with data from multiple different sources or deploying devices that use a plethora of communication technologies.”

GCF’s collaboration with TTA has been moving forward at pace to leverage GCF’s proven processes for developing certification requirements and producing oneM2M certification specifications. Today’s news is the culmination of this partnership, a global certification offering for anyone involved in the development of M2M and IoT.

“The launch of our global oneM2M certification program today means that manufacturers of M2M devices will have access to a simplified interface for all their certification requirements,” said Lars Nielsen, CEO and General Manager, Global Certification Forum. “Together with our 5G certification program, we can now provide a suite of certification solutions for the smart connectivity space that will guarantee the sustained success of IoT deployment as it takes off.”
