IoT Evolution World Week in Review: Intel,ORBCOMM, Ayla Networks

Hello, my IoT friends. This is the IoT Evolution World Week in Review, and here in New England it looks like we’re coming out of Second Winter (Thanks, April). Hope you’ve been enjoying spring across the rest of the Northern Hemisphere. For all you Southern Hemisphere readers, I’m sorry. It’s only getting more wintery by the day. We’ll get to the news in just a bit, but first a quick reminder about the IoT Evolution Expo in Las Vegas, July 11 to 14. And now, the news:

Intel has been powering the IoT for years now, and the company isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. In two announcements this week, the processor giant dropped a purchase of YOGITECH, a semiconductor safety and standards company, and, through its Wind River subsidiary (itself yet another recent acquisition), Arynga, a developer of over-the-air (OTA) technology.

ORBCOMM, a global provider of IoT solutions, has announced a deal with Brown Integrated Logistics to implement its solar-powered asset tracking solution in Brown’s dry van trailers. The solution provides wireless connectivity through proprietary hardware and a web-based reporting platform.

In guest posts this week, Prat Moghe, founder and CEO, Cazena, gave us 10 recommendations for keeping Big Data safe in the cloud and David Friedman, CEO and co-founder, Ayla Networks spun us a tale of the future of the IoT, and how it has to learn from its past.
