V5 Systems Gets $7 Million in Series A Funding

By

The next evolution in IT is the connectivity of everything or the Internet of Everything (IoE). With tens of billions of connected devices, each device represents a potential security threat. Protecting devices with minimal hardware and software is difficult under the best of conditions, but when they are deployed everywhere it becomes that much harder. The $7 million V5 Systems just received in Series A Funding, was provided by Foxlink Group so it can expand its growth of wireless, on edge, intelligent security and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) computing solutions in the U.S. and around the world.

With more than 15 design, manufacturing and sales sites globally, Foxlink Group is not only an investor in the future growth of V5 Systems, but it will also be the strategic manufacturer for the products V5 creates.

In addition to expanding into new markets, the funds will be used to incorporate new sensors onto its existing edge based security platform, develop its Industrial IoT wireless computing platform and carry out a global product rollout.

The V5 technology uses intelligent architecture for outdoor operations with an IoT security system with both Edge, and Hybrid Cloud analytics capabilities virtually any portable IP video security needs.

The platform has an on board processor with controlled IIoT architecture that can run third party application and store up to 1TB of HD quality video retention on the Edge. It can communicate using cellular, Wi-Fi, satellite and RF to ensure connectivity at all times. The camera also includes several sensors, including an image sensor, acoustic processing, chemical detection, GPS, temperature and shock.

When it is time to transmit the content, it uses RSA 2048 keys and AES 256 encryption to protect the information while in transit.

The overall system is designed to protect assets by recording only what needs to be archived and not waste unnecessary power and resources. The camera uses its analytics features to trigger an alert only when an object is recognizes in the frame. It is able to do this by capturing geometric identifiers and computing the data to provide accurate object detection within a specified zone. This means no false alerts, thereby letting security personnel make real-time assessment of the location that is under surveillance.

Rodney Chiu, Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Investment of Foxlink Group, who will also be Joining V5’s board of directors, said “The opportunity for autonomous and smart surveillance within the integrated security boom is enormous, both in the US and in markets around the world. We believe that V5 Systems is the technical leader in this space, and its product is best positioned to take immediate advantage of prevailing trends.”
