IoT Editor's Day Silicon Valley: See the Future of Semiconductors with MegaChips

By

Like all computing revolutions (thus far), the semiconductor is the backbone of the IoT. It allows all the other computing functions and facilitates the analytics upon which all of the Big Data collections processes rely upon for intelligent value.

MegaChips Technology America Corporation, a fabless semiconductor company and a leader in the industry, is focusing on the development of products that incorporate original algorithms and architecture to help customers automate building operations, improve networking and meet storage needs for imaging, audio, home networking, power management, security and communications environments.

We spoke with Maurizio Paganini, EVP at MegaChips, at IoT Evolution Editor’s Day in Silicon Valley, where we met with many of the Left Coast’s biggest brains in the IoT. (Editor’s note: We plan to do another one of these on the east coast sometime soon, but the next time to get face to face with me will be at the IoT Evolution Expo, January 25 to 28 in Ft. Lauderdale. See you in the sand.)

We talked about the company’s so-called living room solutions, and the Bluechip product umbrella. MegaChips has developed a wide range of products and IP designed to provide seamless communication across networks and IoT and M2M applications in Smart Homes, Smart Buildings, Smart Grid, Lighting, and many others.

The BlueChip Wireless low-power Sub-GHz transceiver is especially designed for a wide variety of LPWANs and its external microcontroller addition extends operations to home, building and factory automation possibilities. The BlueChip PLC is a fully compliant IEEE1901 single chip HD-PLC Powerline Communications IC. It delivers robust communications, excellent noise immunity, and high quality of service over both AC and DC power lines. And, to get the best of both worlds, there’s the BlueChip Hybrid Platform, which provides an evaluation environment for hybrid communication of wireless and PLC because it includes both the BlueChip Wireless and BlueChip PLC modules.

“We’re focusing on competition through innovation,” said Paganini. “That’s how we are leading the way.”

And we’re following.
