Stream Technologies' IoT-X Supports all LoRaWAN Compliant Gateways

By

The Internet of Things (IoT) is going to connect billions of devices around the world. As more devices become part of the ecosystem, it will require innovative hardware and software to effectively manage all of these resources. In order to address the technology as a whole, Stream Technologies created the IoT-X platform, which was designed to monitor, manage and monetize connected device solutions no matter which technology is deployed. The company just announced it has improved the platform with LoRaWAN Network Server capability to simplify IoT deployments.

The LoRaWAN network architecture standard was designed to eliminate the complexity of installations so users, developers and businesses can have seamless interoperability among smart things no matter how small or large the deployment. It does this while still addressing key elements of the IoT, including secure bi-directional communication, mobility and localization services.

LoRaWAN relays messages between edge devices and a central network server. The communication between every end-point is generally bi-directional, however it also supports multicast enabling software upgrade over the air, as well as mass distribution messages to lower on air communication time.

Stream’s IoT-X LoRaWAN Network Server decodes and routes data from LoRaWAN gateways on any compliant device to ensure data is always delivered. The company has also integrated additional gateways, including Kerlink, LinkLabs, Senet and Multitech into its network environment.

By simplifying the connectivity and billing process of IoT deployments, Stream makes it possible for businesses to start providing comprehensive IoT services.

Network operators will now be able to commercialize LPWAN with the inbuilt advanced data routing algorithms. This simplifies customer segmentation to introduce new billing capabilities with traditional data tariff model for cellular devices. On the other hand, LPWAN can be billed on how much data is used or the number of connections that have been deployed.

“LoRaWAN will form a major part of the Internet of Things and now with IoT-X network operators can provide a solution which meets all connectivity needs of their clients” said Kevin McDowall, COO, Stream Technologies.
