CENTRI Joins IIC to Advance IoT Security

By Ken Briodagh November 29, 2016

According to a recent announcement, CENTRI, a provider of advanced security for the Internet of Things (IoT), has joined the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC), a global, member-supported, organization that promotes the accelerated growth of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

“Cloud data security is critical to companies today,” said Dr. Richard Soley, Executive Director, Industrial Internet Consortium. “We're excited to have CENTRI working with us as we define ways to help enterprises protect their cloud data and secure IoT devices.”

CENTRI Internet of Things Advanced Security (IoTAS), is designed to help companies looking to secure IoT devices and data with a complete solution tailored to low-power equipment and chipsets. It operates in cache memory for lower CPU utilization, heat reduction and increased uptime of devices. Unlike legacy security tools designed for the anonymous Web, IoTAS delivers a platform that is purpose-built for the trusted, known endpoints of IoT.

“The Internet of Things needs a much different kind of security, not the same old tools companies have used in the past to secure data between laptops, desktops and browsers,” said Vaughan Emery, CEO and President, CENTRI Technology. “CENTRI IoTAS is purpose-built for Internet of Things and is the simplest way for developers to include end-to-end data encryption, optimization, device authentication and complete visibility with forensics and analytics for IoT projects. We look forward to contributing to the Industrial Internet Consortium to help educate audiences on this new paradigm of security.”

The IIC is partnering with IoT Evolution to produce the Industrial IoT Conference, collocated with the IoT Evolution Expo, along with Object Management Group (OMG). The event, taking place February 7 to 10 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, will focus on the IoT technologies and solutions specifically related to manufacturing and industrial applications.
