Globetouch and Virtuosys Announce Partnership

By Ken Briodagh July 05, 2017

In a recent release, Globetouch and Virtuosys have jointly announced a partnership to co-develop the next generation of cloud connected edge computing devices and applications. The companies made the announcement during Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2017, a conference and expo bringing together industry leaders to meet and explore new business models in mobile technology.

Globetouch Inc. is a global connectivity services and IoT platform developer for the connected vehicle and the Internet of Things (IoT) market. Virtuosys is known for its edge application platform, a secure software and hardware solution that is designed to facilitate cloud-edge communications, while also distributing computing power and capacity at the edge.

“Joining forces with Virtuosys is a huge step forward for us as we globally expand our GConnect/GControl connectivity and IoT management platform with GFusion in deep-learning-based analytics and data processing,” said John Jiang, President, Globetouch. “But more importantly, our new partnership is a win-win for a mobile industry searching for more innovative cloud-based edge analytics solutions for global connectivity and IoT.”

Together, the companies will develop a software SIM cellular-connected and cloud-managed edge computing device and edge apps, supporting verticals such as connected vehicles, autonomous driving and retail payments. The resulting product is planned to be an international out of the box cellular connectivity solution offering the software SIM function, in addition to edge analytics in a secure virtualized application environment with cloud app store and intelligence.

“Our mission is to distribute the power of the cloud to the edge in the most seamless and economical way for enterprises,” said Alan Jones, CEO, Virtuosys. “By deploying Virtuosys’ next generation edge application platform with Globetouch global connectivity and Edge analytics, we add a backhaul option and capabilities to our platform that make it even easier to deploy. This partnership well positions both Globetouch and Virtuosys in secure distributed edge computing and simultaneous multiple-application management for the autonomous driving and IoT markets.”
